Dr. Chad Perlyn

Dr. Chad Perlyn is the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), overseeing the university’s health care network, which includes eight colleges focused on education and research, as well as NSU Health, its patient-centered health care system. He is also a professor at NSU’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine. Dr. Perlyn joined NSU in December 2024 after serving as Senior Vice President at Nicklaus Children’s Health System, where he led surgical services, community health, and corporate responsibility.

A distinguished leader in plastic and craniofacial surgery, Dr. Perlyn made significant contributions at Nicklaus Children’s Health System, joining in 2009 as a pediatric plastic surgeon and later serving in leadership roles, including president of Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, medical director of Surgical Services, and chairman of the Ambulatory Surgical Center. He expanded the physician group by 50%, led major affiliations, and developed multiple new practice sites and programs. Under his leadership, operational improvements were made, including streamlined patient access, scheduling, and revenue cycle processes. He also spearheaded the opening of the $180 million Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower, transforming pediatric surgical care in South Florida.

Dr. Perlyn is a global health leader, actively involved with the G4 Alliance on surgical care in low- and middle-income countries and collaborating with Partners in Health in Haiti and Kausay Wasi in Peru to improve accessible, affordable health care worldwide. As a board-certified pediatric plastic surgeon, he cares for children with congenital differences and contributes to the field through publications, lectures, and media commentary.

Dr. Perlyn earned his M.D. from the University of Miami, completed surgical training at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and obtained a doctorate in craniofacial molecular biology from the University of Oxford. He also holds an MBA in health care education from the University of Miami’s Herbert Business School and a degree in English literature from Northwestern University. A Miami native, Dr. Perlyn enjoys ocean activities, marathon running, photography, and travel.
