G4 Alliance: A Global Coalition for Surgical Care Advocacy and Policy
Who We Are
The Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma and Anesthesia Care (G4 Alliance) is a coalition of over 70 leading organizations from across the world. Together, we advocate for the 5 billion people globally who lack accessto safe, timely, and affordable surgical care.
Founded in 2014, we unite healthcare providers, policy experts, and advocates from civil society organizations, NGOs, professional associations, hospitals, universities, and socially-conscious businesses under one mission:
To advocate for the neglected surgical patient.
Why It Matters
Every year, millions of preventable deaths and disabilities occur because people cannot access essential surgery.
Safe surgical care is as vital as vaccines or other preventive medicine — without it, women die in childbirth, children go untreated for congential conditions, people with injuries face long-term disability, and families.
Investing in surgical systems saves lives and strengthens health systems, making countries more resilient against pandemics and crisesÂ
What We Do
G4 Alliance is a global platform for convening, connecting, and amplifying evidence to drive surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anesthesia care advocacy and policy.
Raise Awareness
Shining a light on the global gap in surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anesthesia (SOTA) care.
Drive Policy Change
Engaging with governments, regional platforms, and multilateral organizations to embed SOTA care into national
health plans, regional strategies, and global agendas.
Power Advocacy with Evidence
Harnessing insights from projects and partnerships — including the global pilot and Community of Practice of
the WHO Operative Encounter Module — to inform and strengthen advocacy at every level.
